Netflix VP for marketing EMEA departs her role after eight years

Netflix has announced that EMEA vice president for marketing Danielle Crook-Davies has left the streaming giant.

The news comes a day after Netflix named Microsoft as its technology and sales partner to help power the streaming giant’s first ad-supported subscription plan.

All ads served on Netflix will now be exclusively available through Microsoft’s platform.

Prior to joining Netflix as director of marketing for Europe in 2014, Crook-Davies also worked for Starbucks as the EMEA vice president of marketing category and brand integration.

Before Starbucks, the ex-EMEA vice president for marketing also held several roles for Vodafone, including head of brand integration and UK marketing chief. She has also worked for creative agency Wieden & Kennedy.

Crook-Davies, who helped create the campaigns behind Netflix shows Money Heist, Lupin and The Crown, told Campaign Live that her next career move is “confidential”.

She also added that during her time with Netflix she always focused on maintaining a workplace that held “high levels of creativity and performance, while also focusing on empathy and mental well-being during Covid 19”.

The news of Crook-Davies departure also comes days after the Wall Street Journal revealed that Netflix was attempting to alter and amend programming deals with major studios to allow series and films to premiere on its new ad-supported tier service.
