TikTok can help with DIY as well as dancing in its latest campaign with Mother

TikTok has unveiled a new UK brand campaign with creative agency Mother, drawing attention to the idea that the app is more than just a ‘dancing app’.

The 60-second spot sees a father help his daughter move into a new flat, using TikTok to gain some tips on household DIY.

Produced through media company Zenith, the ‘Do it with TikTok’ campaign intends to showcase the full capabilities and offerings of the short-form video-sharing platform.

“TikTok is more than just ‘that dancing app for young people’,” Mother added.

“It’s that app with all the DIY ideas, and the great recipes, and the parenting tips, and mental health discussions, and championing women’s rights, and Japanese woodworking, and workouts, and green juice recipes, and well, pretty much everything.

“Because whatever it is, someone, somewhere is doing it with TikTok.”

The campaign will roll out via TV, video-on-demand (VoD), digital, and out-of-home (OOH) platforms, as well as on the app itself.

The news comes hours after it was revealed that TikTok is offering cheaper advertising rates than its social media rivals in a bid to attain a bigger share of the digital ads market. Due to lower costs and higher levels of engagement, an increasing amount of brand ad spend has shifted from Twitter and Meta to TikTok – advertisers, brands and industry bodies told the Financial Times.
