Ricky Gervais returns to Slough 20 years after The Office with hilarious vodka billboard

News

Ricky Gervais has delivered another side-splitting activation for up-and-coming British vodka brand Dutch Barn by appearing on a giant out-of-home billboard in Slough town centre.

Returning to the bustling Berkshire borough where his iconic ‘The Office’ series was set, Gervais is promoting his challenger spirit brand by guaranteeing the public they can become rich and happy by consuming Dutch Barn. (The caveat being that that person is in fact Ricky Gervais).

Whether or not this is strictly true is another matter, but its makes for a fun spin on the sometimes dry world of out-of-home advertising nonetheless.

“Since bringing Ricky onto the Dutch Barn team, we have been committed to his vision of un-traditional, honest advertising, and our authentic approach to media buying is no exception,” Ellers Farm Distillery CMO, Ross Haddow said.

“As an independent B Corp brand we’re already doing vodka differently, and that means we do advertising differently too. While Slough might not be the traditional choice for a billboard debut, it was the only place we wanted to launch our first OOH advert.”

The move follows on from a series of witty ads for the brand in which Gervais stars front and centre, the most recent of which features a ‘real’ doctor listing all the health complications associated with imbibing the potent beverage.
