Watch: Arsenal’s Saka dons chef whites to launch Nando’s Peri-Peri sauce

Nando’s has enlisted Arsenal star Bukayo Saka as head chef (de marketing), complete with a launch video which sees the footballer showcase a new limited edition Peri-Peri sauce.

Created by New Commercial Arts, the ‘Yes Chef’ film which goes live across BVOD channels today (20 March), is a playful take on the high-intensity setting of kitchens, with Saka seen hyping up his team and mixing ingredients before adding the final touch.

“We had such a great time shooting this film. Bukayo really embraced the concept and his role as head chef!” director Josh Cohen said.

“Whilst we created a kitchen world that nodded to a formal setting visually, the charm and humour throughout the film delivers a tongue-in-cheek entertainment that is quite uniquely Nando’s.

It coincides with a new Peri-Peri Saka bottle, created by his friend, designer Reuben Dangoor which has been showcased across billboards .

From today, fans will also be able to check out football and food coming together at Nando’s Holloway Road (just a stones throw away from the Emirates, where Saka’s penalty recently helped Arsenal reach the Champion’s League quarter finals).

There will also be further giveaways and experiences over the coming week, which will be displayed across social media channels.

OOH and social work began from 11 March. The media agency is Zenith, with social media carried out by Born Social.

“Nando’s has been flying the (heat) flag for hot sauce since day dot. The launch of Peri-Peri Saka sees us bring our famous sauce to life in an exciting way with our first ever restaurant sauce collaboration,” said Nando’s head of brand Hannah Smith.

“Not only will fans love the taste of the brand new flavour, but we know they will love experiencing Peri-Peri  Saka through the multi-channel campaign across Nando’s platforms too.”
