Watch: Ribena brings back iconic berries for summer of fun

Ribena is bringing its iconic berries back to UK TV screens again this summer after last year’s successful return to mark the brand’s 85th anniversary, following a ten-year hiatus.

After being seen by 13 million people last summer, in an adaptation of a 2014 M&C Saatchi spot by BBH for modern TV formats, the iconic berries will have even more screen time this year.

Running for one month longer than last year, the ad is live until July across TV, VOD and Youtube and will help generate top-of-mind awareness and boost visibility.

The advert features the berries enjoying the sunshine on the farm, with one berry being catapulted into a jug of the juicy drink, highlighting Ribena’s ‘British blackcurrants bursting with berryness’ tag.

Suntory food and wine head of Ribena Aurelie Patterson said: “The berries are back once again! We’re so excited this iconic and top-performing advert will be back on screens, and this summer we’re hoping to reach even more shoppers and generate extra excitement for the brand throughout the season.”

“Over 90% of the blackcurrants grown in the UK go into bottles and cartons of Ribena, from 34 farms across the UK, some of whom have been working with Ribena for three generations,” she added.

“This advert is a true celebration of our brand’s provenance and our drink’s unique taste.”

“Retailers should make they stock our best-selling range to take advantage of the increased awareness generated by our summer-long £4 million marketing spend.”

In 2020 the brand changed its name to Suntory Beverage and Food Great Britain and Ireland to Lucozade Ribena Suntory.
