During an interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Cook was quizzed on advertising questions regarding X, the site formerly known as Twitter.

When asked whether he believes Apple should continue to advertise on the platform in the wake of X CEO Musk being accused of promoting antisemitism on the platform, Cook admitted this is “something that we ask ourselves.”.

While acknowledging the platform still had its uses, Cook slammed X for its “abhorrent” anti-Semitism.

“Generally, my view is Twitter’s an important property. I like the concept that it’s there for discourse and there as a town square. There’s also some things about it I don’t like!”

He added, referring to the allegations of anti-Semitism, “Yeah, which is abhorrent. Just point blank, there is no place for it.”

Cook’s comments come as X announced it has turned to Google to sell programmatic advertising – the latest development after months of struggles to lure advertisers back to the site following Musk’s takeover.

Initiatives such as a range of ‘sensitivity’ controls and ad credits were some of the schemes X introduced as part of an advertising revival strategy.

In addition, despite scandals including advertiser’s creatives appearing alongside Nazi accounts, Musk has announced his plans to sue the Anti-Defamation League for allegedly ‘falsely accusing’ Musk and the platform of antisemitism.

“To clear our platform’s name on the matter of anti-Semitism, it looks like we have no choice but to file a defamation lawsuit against the Anti-Defamation League … oh the irony!” he tweeted.
