Dentsu Creative hires UK chief executive

Dentsu Creative has appointed Jessica Tamsedge as its new UK chief executive in a bid to ‘build a thriving common culture’.

While Tamsedge will be taking over from Dentsu Creative UK CEO James Morris, she will still report to Morris who will assume a chief executive EMEA role for the agency.

The news comes weeks after Dentsu’s headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, was raided by Tokyo prosecutors following suspicions that the agency group rigged bids for contracts related to Tokyo 2020 Olympic test events.

Tamsedge will be tasked with overseeing 400 people across London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Newcastle and ensuring that Dentsu Creative grows its business and delivers ‘scaled modern creativity for clients’.

The UK-based agency works with clients such as Heinz, Dazn, Waitrose, The Co-operative Bank, Vodafone, Kellogg’s and Burberry.

“We are investing in dynamic leaders to build our creative ambition and drive success in our largest market in EMEA,” Dentsu Creative EMEA CEO James Morris said.

“Jessica is an outstanding talent that clients and teams buy into, as well as a committed advocate for DEI, ensuring that the culture is as strong as the work and business.”

Tamsedge will leave her role as chief client officer at McCann Europe and UK imminently. During her time at McCann, Dentsu Creative’s new chief executive worked with brands including Microsoft, Xbox, Reckitt, Nomad Foods Europe and eBay.

“Our industry talks about the need for integration, but few UK creative agencies have the diversity of talent, discipline and geographical footprint of Dentsu Creative: truly collaborative by nature and integrated by design,” Tamsedge herself added.

“I am hugely grateful to those who have invested in me at McCann, taking with me not just lessons in leadership, but also friendships that will last a lifetime.”
