Paramount launches extensive campaign to celebrate Star Trek Day

US media giant Paramount has today launched a new campaign to celebrate so-called ‘Star Trek Day’ on what is the show’s 56th anniversary.

The expansive campaign will feature a range of events including an extensive partnership with London’s Science Museum, whose upcoming science-fiction exhibition will include a Star Trek AR experience. The exhibition is additionally set to include a pop-up store for fans of the show to purchase official merchandise.

Further partnerships will also be launched within the world of retail, with major brands such as Bandi and Forbidden Planet releasing special Star Trek-themed product ranges.

The campaign will also be rolled out across more traditional mediums, with extensive advertising featuring throughout Paramount-owned 5Star’s programming, alongside a social media amplification push.

“We’re delighted to be displaying iconic objects from Star Trek in our major exhibition opening on 6 October – Science Fiction: Voyage to the Edge of Imagination,” Science Museum curator, Guy Morgan said.

“The exhibition uncovers fascinating connections between significant scientific innovations and celebrated science fiction works and visitors will get to see a replica real-life medical tricorder, a screen-used Lieutenant Uhura costume from Star Trek:

He continued: “The Motion Picture and a replica model of the U.S.S. Enterprise signed by Nichelle Nichols and George Takei, all incredible and inspirational pieces of science fiction history.”

Paramount+ executive vice president and international general manager, Marco Nobili added: “There’s a Star Trek show for everyone on Paramount+, whether it’s the iconic first ever series or brand new originals Prodigy and Strange New Worlds.

“We couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity to cement Paramount+ as the global home of the Star Trek universe and reaching new audiences and existing members of the Star Trek fandom.”
