Co-op appoints VCCP for one-off project to grow membership

The Co-op Group has selected creative agency VCCP for work on a one-off project later this year, following on from a competitive pitch process handled by Ingenuity.

VCCP is now set to take over from the incumbent Lucky Generals, which has held the retailer’s account since 2018, and will continue to do so for the next three months.

Having produced various works for the Co-op’s food, funeral, insurance and healthcare offerings, Lucky Generals opted not to pitch for the project.

“We are pleased to appoint VCCP to deliver a one-off, time-limited project in 2024 to work with us to help grow our membership by another one million people and to drive further our Co-op point of difference,” a spokesperson said.

According to Campaign, the group is currently still in the process of reviewing who it will select as its lead strategic account at the conclusion of this project.

VCCP London CEO, Andrew Peake added: “We are absolutely delighted to work with Co-op on this project to help grow its membership and business. Co-op is a fantastic brand and we can’t wait to help them show the nation why they are so special.”
