Touching Uber ad sees Robert De Niro and Asa Butterfield become best friends

Uber has enlisted the star-studded one-two punch combo of Robert De Niro and Asa Butterfield for the latest integrated ad campaign for its ‘Uber One’ service.

The unexpectedly charming effort sees De Niro and Butterfield become the unlikeliest of friends – bonding over their love of ‘eating food’ and ‘going places’. Rather conveniently, Uber One can facilitate both of these activities.

Developed by London-based creative agency Mother, the 195-second hero spot will run across TV, broadcaster video-on-demand, cinema, and digital in a wide range of different cut-down formats.

Tongue-in-cheek out-of-home assets have also been produced to support the lead film, highlighting how Uber One is the ideal membership for people who like to ‘eat food’ and ‘go places.

“Our new campaign aims to let people know that Uber One is a membership for people who eat food and go places, which is just about everyone,” Maya Gallego Spiers said.

“With Uber One, members can save money on Uber & Uber Eats, and it’s already being enjoyed by over 1 million people in the UK. For our first ever Uber One campaign we’ve been lucky enough to work with the incredibly brilliant Robert De Niro and Asa Butterfield who have brought this campaign to life beautifully on screen.”

The service’s primary benefits include no delivery fee for Uber Eats orders, including 5% off orders over £15 and 5% off grocery orders over £25. It also offers 5% off Uber rides and 10% off Uber premium rides.
