Superdrug launches contactless activation for LGBT charity

Health and beauty retailer Superdrug has partnered with LBGT charity Switchboard to support the latter’s in-demand helpline to ensure that its volunteers can always remain available to callers.

Erected to ‘Celebrate the Pride in You’, the windows will enable shoppers to donate directly to the charity via stress-free contactless payments of three pounds.

As part of the partnership, the retailer has also donated £10,000 to Switchboard to help it train and support volunteers – training each individual costs the charity around £450 and this donation will enable it to train up 22 new volunteers.

“We are proud to continue to support the LGBTQ+ community through our partnership with Switchboard Helpline, a vital charity providing an essential service,” Superdrug head of marketing, Gemma Mason said.

“Over the past six years, the partnership between Superdrug, Unilever and Switchboard has created real change by ensuring people have immediate access to the support they need.

She added: “To be able to offer this unique donation point across some of our stores, gives our customers the opportunity to support Switchboard directly and showcase new innovative and creative ways that people can get involved in donating.”

To mark the occasion, Superdrug has additionally launched its own ‘Pride’ edition range of products for the second year running, within which all items will carry the Switchboard logo, phone number and information.
