FIFA 23 3D billboard features digitised Kylian Mbappé and Christian Pulisic

American video game company Electronic Arts has debuted a 3D billboard to support the recent release of FIFA 23.

The New York-based billboard, with close to a million views on Twitter, sees digitised versions of Paris-Saint Germain’s Kylian Mbappé and Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic both dribble past other virtual football players.

The news comes as a flurry of brands continue to create 3D out-of-home billboards. Most recently in August, US restaurant chain Subway launched an interactive 3D billboard at Westfield Stratford City that allowed members of the public to virtually build their own dream ‘sub’.

“We really feel 3D billboards are the new wave of OOH advertising, especially with the ability to make them go viral on social media,” said Ethan Jakab, cofounder of Blunt Action, the production studio that designed the recent 2 Chainz 3D billboard.

“It’s been a lot of fun to work on these unique, eye-catching 3D billboards,” Jakab told TimeOut.

“We think these are quickly becoming more popular because people love a good illusion and seeing something that makes them stop and look twice.”

“These immersive experiences are the future; they step outside the box of traditional billboard advertising and open a new door of creative possibilities.”

“NYC has so many great digital billboard locations and we hope to see more of these immersive visuals take over.”
