Watch: Peperami brings back anarchic ‘Animal’ after 10 years

Peperami is bringing back its iconic ‘Animal’  character after nearly a decade since it last graced the nation’s television screens.

The new campaign, created by Fearless Union, spans digital and TV and kicks off with a desperately bored man stuck in a dull virtual meeting with his boss droning on, before being transported to a world where the anarchic ‘Animal’ character resides, surrounded by floating pie charts and digital screens.

Noticing the man’s desire to escape the monotonous meeting, ‘Animal’ shoves an imaginary pie chart into his bosses mouth and begins a gleeful chant of “meat, meat, meat”.

The film concludes with the classic line: “Satisfy your animal”.

The campaign, which is the first work by Fearless Union, comes after research revealed that – despite its decade-long absence from TV screens – ‘Animal’ still has a place in the modern world and is embedded in the memories of 81% of UK adults.

The new work builds on previous Peperami campaigns but gives the ‘Animal’ character a deeper side, encouraging viewers to break free from their screens and indulge in small moments of pleasure.

“It’s been a privilege to bring one of adland’s characters back to our TV screens,” said Fearless Union’s Mark Campion.

“‘The Animal’ is such a nostalgic force that staying faithful to what makes him great, whilst also moving him along has been a real journey. We had some oversized Doc Martens to fill – but the work displays our dedication to staying true to an unforgettable brand, while also finding a way to speak to a contemporary British audience.”

Peperami’s Emily Prince added: “The campaign marks a bold step forward for Peperami, building on the brand’s heritage whilst first reaffirming our commitment to providing delicious and satisfying snacks for today’s busy adults.”

“With Fearless Union’s creative vision and expertise we’re confident that ‘Animal’ will captivate audiences once again, reminding them that snacking should be fun and flavourful”.
