Clear Channel partners with artist Martin Firrell to celebrate women’s empowerment

Out-of-home media owner Clear Channel its celebrating it long-running relationship with iconic British artist Martin Firrell with a new series of public art pieces on women’s empowerment.

Focusing squarely on the power that women do and don’t wield in British society, Firrell’s pieces will appear across the Clear Channel network and will feature quotes by a range of female leaders.

Included within the campaign will be high-achieving women such as ITV CEO Carolyn McCall; Royal Academy president Rebecca Salter; novelist and chair of Society of Authors Joanne Harris; St. John’s College Cambridge master Heather Hancock; painter and sculptor Maggi Hambling; London Stock Exchange CEO Julia Hoggett, and Sistah Space CEO Ngozi Fulani.

“Only the out-of-home medium has the power to present important, socially engaged public art on this scale, to everyone, at once,” Clear Channel European marketing lead, Martin Corke said.

Firrell’s latest work will look to challenge what he perceives as ‘unjust power systems’ that include patriarchal power, the oppression of women and non-heterosexuals, and the heteronormative status quo.
