Asda unveils full 2023 Christmas ad starring Michael Bublé

Following on from the release of its atmospheric teaser ad, Asda has now launched its highly-anticipated 2023 Christmas campaign starring Michael Bublé in full.

Developed by creative agency Havas London, the festive film sees Bublé become the supermarket’s inaugural chief quality officer. Directed by Oscar-winner Taiki Waititi, the work is a real star turn for the Canadian superstar – who is quite surprisingly appearing in a Christmas ad for the very first time.

Seeming somewhat bemused, Bublé approaches his role whole-heartedly and with considerable vigour, testing and approving a vast array of festive items from Christmas Day cheeseboards to glitzy formal party-wear.

“At Asda, we firmly believe that having the good stuff shouldn’t break the bank – especially at Christmas. We absolutely love the festive season at Asda – and we couldn’t think of anyone better to bring our Christmas campaign to life than Michael Bublé,” Asda chief customer officer, David Hills said.

“With Bublé’s undeniable ability to spread seasonal smiles and our commitment to quality, at great value, we’re a match made in heaven, proving Asda is a one-stop-shop for families seeking magic this Christmas.

With media planning and buying handled by Spark Foundry, the campaign will run across TV, print, PR, out-of-home, video-on-demand, digital, social media, CRM and in-store executions.

Havas London chief creative officer, Vicki Maguire added: “Christmas just isn’t Christmas without Michael Bublé. He’s an undisputed icon who gets everyone singing, dancing, and feeling merry – and after another tough year, customers deserve it.

“But it’s not just Christmas Michael Bublé is synonymous with – he understands great quality. So, who better to ensure Christmas is the best it can be by quality controlling every aspect of it. If it isn’t good enough for Bublé, it isn’t good enough for Asda customers – and we hope this campaign puts a big smile on their millions of faces.”
