International media agency Universal McCann (UM) yesterday (21 July) held its fifth annual ‘Impact Day’, which aims to bring its global teams closer together around a set of shared values.

In this annual fixture, UM commits resources to serving local communities in order to promote the core values of equity, community impact and wellness. This year’s event will be the first to bring people together in-person since the start of the pandemic in 2020.

Taking part in the event were 120 UM regional offices in 50 countries across the EMEA, APAC, LATAM and North American markets, with each office partnering with local charities and community organisations.

UM’s London offices partnered with a range of local groups for event, including charities such as Thrive Tuition, which works with underprivileged children, FCV Dorcas, which works with the elderly and CALM, a mental health charity.

Launched in 2016 as part of UM’s Better World corporate social responsibility initiative, the Impact Day aims to demonstrate the agency’s commitment to community and care by allowing its employees to benefit the neighbourhoods in which they work and live.

“With Covid restrictions lifted, we’re finally able to get back to the streets on the 21st of July,” UM UK CEO, Rachel Forde said.

“Our people can also complete their own voluntary work if there is a specific charity that is close to their heart, or particular projects they want to dedicate their time to in their own community.

“Our Better World efforts aren’t focused entirely on a single day of course. We are proud to run a number of projects helping out underprivileged communities over the course of the year. We work with local charities on an ongoing basis and deliver events aimed at tackling issues like discrimination.

“Every day we strive to make a difference, but Impact Day has become a global symbol of this effort and of our resolve to help society through the influence we have as a business.”
