Netflix promotes its Rowan Atkinson ‘Man vs Bee’ series with 3D OOH Manchester push

Netflix has placed an out-of-home (OOH) billboard in Manchester with accompanying 3D bees to promote its new Man vs Bee series.

The Rowan Atkinson-led series is advertised in the centre of a roundabout in Manchester and is surrounded by a 3D swarm of bees, housed on giant poles.

The streaming giant’s physical activation is its second in recent months as May saw the promotion of Stranger Things Four through an experiential billboard in Shoreditch, London. Members of the public were able to enter an “Upside Down” portal to grab a slice of “mind flaying pizza”.

The Man vs Bee advertisement is intended to drive hype on social media platforms and also entice commuters to watch the series that debuts on 24 June.

The campaign was created by Open Media UK in collaboration with Kinetic, Wavemaker, PKS Media Solutions and Culture City.

“What better way to improve one of the most unmissable forms of communication – one which can’t be skipped, muted or turned off – than to literally make the copy jump out of the screen,” Open Media UK said.

“It’s been such a fun experience being part of this special build, and we can’t wait to see more exciting and innovative campaigns on our sites in the upcoming months.”
