Just Eat unveils Katy Perry as new celebrity partner for upcoming ad

Just Eat has released a new updated spot featuring Katy Perry, following on from the immensely successful ‘Did somebody say Just Eat?’ campaign run in collaboration with Snoop Dogg.

The spot sees Katy Perry perform an updated version of ‘Did Somebody Say?’, showcasing the extensive range and variety of food and beverages that can be ordered via the app.

The new original song was composed by herself and Kris Pooley, whilst the spot was once again created by McCann London and the team which initially created the previous Snoop Dogg spot.

The ad was directed by a long-time collaborator of Perry’s, music video creator Dave Meyers, who worked on video for two of the popstar’s hits – Swish Swish and Firework.

McCann has worked closely with Just Eat since being appointed its creative agency of record in 2018. The creation of the ‘Did Somebody Say?’ brand platform soon followed in May 2019 and Snoop Dogg’s famous ad first aired in May 2020.

‘Did somebody say’ feat. Snoop Dogg put the brand firmly on the cultural map, anchored the message that Just Eat is the answer to all food cravings, and connected us with audiences, building brand love and consideration in a fiercely competitive sector,” Just Eat VP global brand, Susan O’Brien said.

“While we’re launching with a blockbuster TVC, this is a global creative brand platform running across 18 markets in 20 languages, and underpinned by a comprehensive through-the-line activation strategy.

“We’ve moved from two legacy organisations, operating independently to one unified business, and for the first time, we’re presenting ourselves on a world stage in the same joyful expression.

“Katy Perry brings unparalleled star power and her playful nature matches ours to a tee. It’s the perfect partnership to continue building the instinctive connection between Just Eat and the joy of food delivery.”

The release of the new campaign comes amid troubled times for the food delivery service however, with chairman Adriaan Nuhn resigning earlier this month, closely followed by the suspension of CFO Jorg Gerbig.
