Uber brings subscription service to the UK

Uber has plans to launch its subscription service Uber One in the UK later this month, offering discounts on rides and free delivery on Uber Eats.

The programme currently runs in the US and costs users $9.99 (£8.01) a month, or $99.99 (£80.21) a year and includes additional perks like “invite-only” experiences and prioritised service across Uber.

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, said yesterday in a blog post that Uber One would also feature in Germany and Mexico in the future, with more countries to be introduced to the service “soon”.

Khosrowshahi added: “At Uber, we’re always innovating to meet your ever-changing needs in an ever-changing world. With our new suite of products that help you go anywhere and get anything, the world is in your hands.”

This summer, British customers will also be able to book car rentals, coaches and trains through the Uber Travel platform which is also already established in the US.

“Ready for your next getaway? Uber Travel lets you reserve rides for each leg of your itinerary in one fell swoop,” Uber said.

The transport company’s service Uber Charter will also launch in Britain soon, allowing people to book buses for large private gatherings.

“Uber Charter lets you book a party bus, passenger van, coach bus and more directly in the Uber app. Whether it’s for a wedding, a wine tasting, or a work event, it’s about to get easier than ever to book a bus for your next group gathering.”

The plethora of new Uber services will offer marketers opportunities to advertise via the various new platforms.
