Tinder to launch first-ever pop-up aimed at dog-loving singletons

Tinder has launched its first-ever pop-up activation, opening a dog-friendly pub, The Bark and Spark allowing singletons and their dogs to mingle on first dates.

The pop-up pub experience will take place over the weekend of 14-15 May in London, Manchester and Edinburgh which will pamper guests’ dogs whilst they enjoy their first Tinder dates.

Research carried out by Tinder has revealed that users who feature pictures of their dogs on their profiles attain 5% more matches on average, with 29% of UK users admitting to adding a picture of themselves with a dog in the hopes of improving their chances on the app.

Surprisingly, nine in 10 young Britons have said that a lack of compatibility between a prospective partner and their dogs would be a deal breaker for any hope of a relationship.

The pubs taking part in the pop-up experience will be; The Dog House in Kennington, London, The Dog and Partridge in Failsworth, Manchester and The Hare of the Dog on Broughton Road, Edinburgh.

“It’s clear that dogs are loved by Tinder members with 10% of our members including ‘dog lover’ as one of their interests on their Tinder profile”, Tinder UK senior director of comms, Laura Wilkinson-Rea said.

“That’s why we’re so excited to be bringing together dog lovers and their dates IRL by launching our first pop up pub experience, The Bark & Spark.

“Answering singletons calls for shared experiences and providing a low-pressure way to make real world connections, it really is a win for all four paws.”

She added: “In support of ‘our best friend’ and wanting all dogs to belong to happy homes, Tinder is making a donation to leading animal welfare charity, Battersea, supporting the amazing work they do helping dogs and cats everywhere.

“Not only are dogs considered to be amazing company (80%), but most can agree that they give great cuddles (59%) too. What’s not to love about dogs being the best dating companion.”
