Corona installs pickable fruit billboard in London for Corona Tropical launch

Corona has installed a real fruit ‘pickable’ billboard in London to celebrate the launch of the brand’s new low-calorie sparkling fruit drink Corona Tropical.

Venturing away from beer production, this is Corona’s first lightly sparkling alcohol drink and has a strength of 4.5% ABV, containing less than 100 calories.

The immersive billboard, that debuts in London before being deployed in more cities around the world, gives members of the public the chance to pick fruit straight from the ad and enjoy a slice in their own Corona Tropical sample.

The AB InBev drink will be available in three tropical flavours including Guava and Lime, Raspberry and Lemon, and Grapefruit and Lemongrass, and will cost consumers £16 for a pack of eight 330ml cans.

“According to Research and Markets, the global alcoholic infused sparkling water market size is expected to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 12% over the next several years,” Corona said.

“As more consumers around the globe look for alternative, low-calorie beverages, Corona created a product catered to consumers searching for that Corona lifestyle, beyond beer.”

Made from real fruit juice, the new Corona product is set to roll out globally in China, Colombia, Peru, Panama, Ecuador and the UK, with additional markets launching later this year, starting with Canada.

“Corona is a brand that was born from the tropics and as we encourage consumers to embrace the lifestyle around the world, we’re excited to offer a new Corona beverage to those who love the brand but are looking for options outside of beer,” Corona global vice president Felipe Ambra said.

“It is our mission to bring paradise to people everywhere and our newest innovation does just that. We created a more flavourful and very approachable alcoholic beverage so that everyone can enjoy the feeling of paradise done the Corona way.”

The brand is also offering Corona Tropical consumers the chance to win a trip to ‘the ultimate real-life paradise destination, Corona Island’, if drinkers share a photo on Instagram or Twitter of themselves enjoying the newly created beverage.
