Asda’s SVP chief digital officer Matt Kelleher has departed from the company after serving in the role since July 2024.

Kelleher is leaving the supermarket retailer to explore new opportunities and will leave effective today, 1 October. According to the business, the departure was an amicable decision, and his team has been updated.

Asda’s chairman Allan Leighton thanked Kelleher for his service and his leadership during the supermarket’s Project Future, which saw Asda detach its system from Walmart.

The leadership team will undergo a reshuffle following his departure.

Chief technology officer Adrian Berry and chief information officer Marcus Shaw will now manage IT systems. Additionally, some former team members will be moving towards customer and retail.

An Asda spokesperson said: “We can confirm that Matt Kelleher has left Asda. After more than 15 years in senior executive roles at Asda and elsewhere, Matt has decided the time is right to pursue a new direction. We wish him well for the future.”

The news comes after Asda recently appointed Charlotte Rhodes as vice president of Own Brand, marking the first senior hire by new chief customer officer Rachel Eyre.
