It is Easter once again and the shops are full of the latest chocolate treats.

The first chocolate eggs were sold in 1873. Early eggs were made from dark chocolate, but in 1897, Cadbury introduced Cadbury’s Milk Chocolate and subsequent chocolate eggs were made using the new recipe.

Today, Easter Eggs come in all flavours, shapes and sizes – from croissants to custard creams.

To celebrate Easter this weekend, we take a look at some of our favourite ads featuring Easter treats.

Co-Op

The first offering on our list is from Co-op.

Devised by creative agency Forever Beta, the advert features an Easter Egg hunt gone wrong.

A mum and her friends are shown enjoying easter eggs while the kids search around the house for their eggs. A familiar sight for many families this weekend.

Cadbury

Next on the list is this magical film from Cadbury.

The spot shows the Easter Bunny working all day and night to hide eggs up and down the country for the public to find.

It was managed by brand activation agency RPM.

Fortnum & Mason

This offering from premium retailer Fortnum & Mason shows the luxurious side of Easter with a spread fit for royalty.

The table is perfectly set and decorated with pretty spring pastels.

And one cannot forget about the treats, from sparkling wine and rhubarb conserve, to the roast meat centrepiece, Fortnum & Mason showcase the best flavours from the English countryside in their easter offering.

Aldi

From a luxury experience to a budget-friendly offering, Aldi shows they have just as many delicious treats for the more budget-conscious shopper.

At the centre of the advert is an adorable chocolate dog that almost looks good enough to eat.

Smarties

Last but not least, is this Smarties campaign from 1996.

It sees Smarties Mini Eggs take on an electric whisk. Who will win? Well, that’s up for the viewer to decide.
