eBay taps into live shopping experience with TV’s Katherine Ryan

Comedian, broadcaster and style icon Katherine Ryan will be hosting eBay’s first ever real time shopping experience as the ecommerce retailer taps into the live shopping market.

Launching at 8pm on Wednesday 1 May, eBay Live in the UK will be hosted by Ryan, along with eBay’s pre-loved style director Amy Bannerman.

Shopping fans who log onto the interactive livestream shopping experience will be able to buy exclusive pre-loved fashion in real time, including a number of items from Ryan’s very own wardrobe. Many of the outfits are iconic looks which have been seen on stage at her comedy shows, on the red carpet and on hit Netflix show The Duchess.

Ryan teased the eBay partnership on her Instagram channel last weekend, giving her one million followers a glimpse inside her wardrobe as she sorted through the outfits, hinting that “something exciting” would be coming soon as part of her paid partnership with eBay.

Alongside Ryan’s showstopping looks, the eBay Live will also feature Tasha Ghouri’s finale dress from the Love Island wardrobe, following the partnership between the ecommerce giant and the ITV show.

All items will be available as ‘buy it now’ through Messina Hembry’s pre-loved store , which gives second hand designer clothing another chance at life.

“I’ve always enjoyed being playful with clothes and am known for my sense of style so I’m really excited to be partnering with eBay to clear out my wardrobe now there are no fashion fees to sell pre-loved fashion,” said Ryan.

“I am a huge fan of buying and selling on eBay to find fashion gems… tune in to hear more about my worn-once show stopping fits which I hope will bring others as much joy as they have to me!”

This follows the news that it is now free to sell pre-owned clothing without any fees on eBay UK. As new research reveals over two thirds of the UK’s wardrobe goes unworn, shoppers are being encouraged to sell their unworn items.

All funds raised during the event will be donated to the Women’s Health Information & Support Centre (WHISC) charity.
