Uber Eats highlights restaurants open for suhoor in 2024 Ramadan campaign

Uber Eats is helping Muslims taking part in Ramadan this year by letting its users know which restaurants available on the app are extending their opening hours for Suhoor (the early morning meal before fasting.)

As part of the campaign, the delivery app will also highlight a selection of halal restaurant partners who have extended their opening hours for suhoor throughout Ramadan, which began on 10 March and will end on 9 April in the UK.

Designed by creative agency Mother London, the campaign will run across out-of-home and social media, inspired by 2023 insight which showed that over 2,400 restaurants extended their opening times on the Uber Eats app for those observing Ramadan.

The creative leans in to the concept of neon lighting being associated with late-night activity – giving UK Muslims a modern twist in a bid to move away from traditional Ramadan visual tropes and clichés.

“The Open For Suhoor campaign is an excellent demonstration of how Uber Eats is supporting not only our customers observing Ramadan but also our outstanding restaurant partners across the UK who are extending their opening hours during this Holy Month”, Uber Eats general manager UK, Ireland and Northern Europe, Matthew Price said.

“We’re also delighted to reintroduce our Sundown Spots iftar dinners to express our appreciation to our incredible drivers who continue to work with Uber whilst fasting. We are also offering a to-go option for couriers who wish to keep delivering on Uber Eats during this time.”

To help drivers and couriers observing Ramadan, Uber Eats will also bring back its Sundown Spots dinners this year, with a series of pop-up restaurants in London, Leeds, Liverpool, Birmingham, and Manchester offering free food to mark iftar.
