Temu ad crowned as most effective Super Bowl spot

Online marketplace Temu has been crowned the most impactful Super Bowl 2024, according to Google Trends search data that is, which revealed that the brand saw a whopping 1,139% increase in US searches after it aired.

Temu’s 30-second ‘Shop Like a Billionaire’ spot may seem rudimentary compared to some of the other blockbuster efforts that graced TV screens last night, but it seems to have undeniably hit the SEO sweet spot.

According to promotional products firm Pens.com, the ecommerce giant’s ad generated by far the most immediate impact of all Super Bowl 2024 ads, beating the likes of Disney and Volkswagen by over 190% in searches.

“Already averaging a volume of 4.6 million online searches a month in the US alone, Temu is steadfast in its pursuit of becoming America’s leading shopping app. In 2023, the brand was estimated to have paid $1.7 billion in marketing alone,” a Pens.com spokesperson said.

“Since its Super Bowl debut last year, the platform expanded to three slots this year, sparking significant controversy along the way as the company grapples with ethical accusations. Emerging as the undisputed leader among its competitors that night, the remarkable surge in popularity has led the company to establish itself as a substantial player in the industry.”

The £5.5 million that Temu would have reportedly shelled out for its 30 seconds of airtime seems to have been well worth the expense, with the low-budget CGI film providing unparalleled online exposure.
