Watch: Argos kicks off Christmas 2023 with a disco beat

The battle of the Christmas ads is beginning with a bang as Argos launches its festive campaign on 1 November, looking to “show off” the range of brands on offer.

Set to make its on-air debut at 19:45 on ITV 1, this year’s 30-second Christmas spot will feature the inimitable duo Connie and Trevor as they dance to disco classic Le Freak by Chic, telling the nation that ‘This Christmas, There’s More To Argos’.

Developed by creative agency The&Partnership, the hero film shows Connie dancing across a table on Christmas eve as she struggles to contain her excitement in anticipation of the big day, showcasing the range of gifts available at the retailer for this festive season as she goes.

Unfortunately for Connie, Trevor’s directorial debut falls somewhat flat as, tasked with filming the performance, it is revealed that he’s been recording himself by mistake the whole time.

The ad will be supported by high-impact OOH, BVOD, press, social, online, radio and PR across the UK, with 10-second TV spots also running from 19 November. A series of stand-alone short form films for BVOD and social  – including TikTok – have been created to show Connie and Trevor like never before.

“We wanted to pull out all the stops for the latest Argos instalment,” said The&Partnership creative directors, Matt Moreland and Chris Clarke.

“It is Christmas after all. So we teamed Connie up with some stylish merch, a world class choreographer, and a remix of one of the best disco tracks of all time. Surely nothing could go wrong?”

Argos head of campaigns Laura Boothby added: “There was no better way to show off what you can find at Argos this Christmas than bringing back our loveable and family-friendly characters Connie and Trevor.

“In a festive-themed adventure, the dynamic duo spotlight just a few of the incredible products our customers can buy this Christmas, and bring them to life in a witty and playful way – igniting the Christmas joy our customers can find at Argos.”
