High street retailer Marks & Spencer has parted company with long-time agency partner, House 337 having worked together since 2019 under the latter’s previous guise, Odd.

The news comes as Marks & Spencer’s contract with the London agency comes to an end. The future of the retailer’s Home and Clothing creative account is currently up in the air, with no news so far on who, if anyone, will replace House 337.

House 337’s predecessor agency, fashion and lifestyle specialist Odd was originally appointed to lead Marks & Spencer’s Home and Clothing account when the retailer separated it from its Food section four years ago. Odd later merged with Engine Creative to form House 337.

The agency notably helped the retailers develop its ‘Anything But Ordinary’ brand platform and said in a statement that it was “immensely proud” of having helped boost Clothing and Home sales by 11.5% to £3.72 billion in the year ending 1 April 2023, as well as delivering Marks & Spencer’s “highest festive market share in seven years” with last year’s Christmas campaign.

“Playing an integral role in the positive transformation of M&S’s brand and business fortunes has been deeply gratifying – both for House 337’s experienced fashion and lifestyle team and for the agency as a whole,” House 337 chief client officer, Charlie Hurrell said.

“We wish M&S the very best for the next phase of their evolution and we look forward to helping shape, guide and effect other successful transformation journeys.”

Marks & Spencer marketing director, Anna Braithwaite added: “House 337 has been a committed creative partner to M&S, and have produced effective creative campaigns for improving style perceptions and positively impacting sales. It’s now the start of the next chapter in our growth story, and we’d like to thank them for their hard work and expertise.”
