BrewDog and Paddy Power have joined forces to rub salt into fresh wounds and mock Arsenal’s tragic defeat to Man City at the Etihad on Wednesday night.

The game at Man City’s stomping ground saw Arsenal suffer a 4-1 loss – and with that, their chances of beating the Sky Blues, who have two games in hand (and Erling Haaland), to the top of the table plummeted.

Some call it just Arsenal’s luck, others call it a bottling. Irish bookie Paddy Power went as far as sending an 18 ft inflatable bottle of champagne to the Emirates, labelled ‘Biggest Bottlers in North London 2023’. The bottle currently stands 5.5 metres high outside the stadium.

It also partnered with BrewDog, which has long been known to enjoy a good tease, to create a limited edition beer; Misfiring Gunners IPA – which it said ‘may contain the tears of Arsenal fans’.

“This sensational bottling act has been brewing for a while, so we are delighted to be able team up with Paddy Power to create bespoke bottles of IPA, although it might prove hard to swallow for some,” said BrewDog chief marketing officer Lauren Carrol.

Paddy Power spokesperson Rachael Kane made an even more outrageous assertion: “Bottling is an act normally reserved for Gunners’ North London neighbours, but a run of four wins without a game might now put Arsenal on a par with the 2015/16 Spurs side that managed to finished third in a two-horse race. Quite an achievement!”

You don’t have to be a Gooner to know that standing seventh in the table and currently managerless (again), Tottenham Hotspur have no bottles left to cane or smash this season.
