John Lewis names shortlisted agencies in creative review

The John Lewis Partnership has selected a shortlist of three for its creative agency review, pitting Saatchi & Saatchi London, Wonderhood and WPP up against each other according to Campaign.

The Oystercatchers managed-review was initiated in February, with incumbent agency adam&eveDDB declining to re-pitch – thus bringing to a close an extensive and long-lasting creative relationship.

Adam&eveDDB chief executive Tammy Einav said at the time: “To say we are immensely proud doesn’t begin to capture the feelings we have towards what we have achieved together over the years.”

“We are therefore saddened that the team at John Lewis Partnership have decided to call a pitch. Whilst we appreciate being invited, we have made the extremely difficult decision not to re-pitch. We shall always be grateful for the opportunity to create work that has been so loved. We will continue to support the team throughout this process and wish them all the very best for the next chapter.”

Campaign also reports that opening chemistry meetings have taken place, with all three agencies vying for the combined John Lewis & Partners, Waitrose & Partners, and John Lewis Financial Services accounts.

In its most recent campaign for the iconic retailer, adam&eveDDB produced the highly-acclaimed Christmas spot ‘The Beginner’, which raised awareness of the foster care system.
