The UK government has released a TV ad to support its ‘It All Adds Up’ energy saving campaign that has been running since 17 December last year.

The UK government has released a TV advertisement to support its ‘It All Adds Up’ energy saving campaign that has been running since 17 December last year.

The TV spot aims to ensure that ‘as many people as possible’ can access advice on how to take advantage of ‘simple ways’ to save money on their energy bills.

Costing up to £18 million, the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy campaign offers guidance such as reducing the temperature a boiler heats water to, turning appliances off at the plug and draught proofing windows and doors.

The government claims that the guidance included in the TV advert focuses on simple measures which are not ‘already adopted by the majority of households in the UK’.

Business and Energy Secretary Grant Shapps has backed the launch of the ‘It All Adds Up’ campaign, posting a video on Twitter with the caption: “I’m doing my best to lower my energy bills while still keeping warm. Unfortunately, my Elf on the Shelf has other ideas…”

The TV ad will be aired on commercial terrestrial and satellite television channels, including ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Sky.

“The government’s ‘It All Adds Up’ energy saving campaign is already getting important information out to millions of households across the country, showing them simple, low and no-cost tips to cut their energy use and bills this winter,” Business and Energy minister Lord Callanan said.

“Simple steps can make a big difference to cutting bills, while keeping homes warm and safe, and by launching this new TV advert, even more people will be aware and the savings will keep adding up for UK households.”
