EasyJet campaign encourages over 45s to join as cabin crew members

EasyJet has released a new recruiting campaign in the UK, encouraging adults aged over 45 to join the company as cabin crew members.

The ‘Empty Nesters Take Flight’ campaign is targeted towards parents whose children have left home and anyone who is looking for a new career later in life.

According the airline, around 78% of British parents aged 45 and over wish to embark on a new challenge once their children move on from their family homes. Since 2018, EasyJet has witnessed a 27% increase in cabin crew members over the age of 45.

Research carried out by the brand found that the top five most desirable career choices for those over 45 are working as a cabin crew member, charity worker, paramedic, teacher or librarian.

An additional 63% of those surveyed by EasyJet said that a job that allowed them to travel would be the ideal role.

EasyJet director of cabin services, Michael Brown, said that the airline’s ‘heart’ is its people and the “warm welcome and fantastic customer service that our cabin crew are famous for.”

The ad features real cabin members from across the company.

Neil, 59, who wanted to follow in the footsteps of his daughter, added: “I decided I needed a new challenge and wanted a job I could enjoy and would look forward to work each day. Knowing how much Holly loved the job, and with her encouragement, I applied and found myself in Luton academy for training. I have loved it ever since.”

The news comes months after the low-cost airline EasyJet has named Robert Birge as its new chief customer and marketing officer.
