McDonald’s heartwarming Christmas ad promotes ‘togetherness’ this festive season

McDonald’s UK and Ireland has unveiled its 2022 Christmas ad ‘The List’ which intends to remind the public that Christmas is all about ‘the little moments of togetherness’.

Created by Tom Hooper the Oscar-winning director of The King’s Speech, the 60-second advert follows the story of a young boy and his ever-growing Christmas list.

Set to Becky Hill’s rendition of ‘Only You’ by Yazoo, the heart-warming film sees the young lad indulge in the ‘innocent excitement’ of Christmas while his mum keeps herself busy making all the preparations for the big day.

When the boy loses his Christmas list, a meal in McDonald’s and consolidation from his parents reminds him that Christmas is all about appreciating the ‘little things’.

While the ad will see Becky Hill donate 10p from every download of her Yazoo cover to Children in Need, the campaign also marks the beginning of the food chain’s #ReindeerReady campaign which will provide six unique activities and opportunities to enhance the Christmas season for families across the UK and Ireland.

“We know this Christmas isn’t going to be a normal one for many families across the UK and Ireland, so it’s more important than ever that we’re there to support our customers in their preparations to get Reindeer Ready,” McDonald’s senior vice president and chief marketing officer, Michelle Graham-Clare, said.

“We’re proud to launch The Alternative Christmas List, which will provide many families across the UK with free, fun activities in the lead-up to the big day, but to also be supporting our charity partner BBC Children in Need with much-needed funds at a time when they need it most”.

Every week customers can log into the McDonald’s App, or head to ReindeerReady.co.uk to see what new experience has been added to ‘The Alternative Christmas List’.

Chart-topping singer songwriter Becky Hill added:”This year in particular so many families and young people are struggling with the cost of living and I’m so glad that 10p from every download is donated directly to BBC Children in Need – it’s humbling to see the work that this fantastic charity does and I’m proud to play my part in supporting the young people it helps.”
