Ocean Outdoor secures lucrative Battersea Power Station DOOH contract

Out-of-home (OOH) specialist Ocean Outdoor has been awarded the highly sought-after DOOH contract for the newly-reopened Battersea Power Station in south-west London following a competitive pitch process.

As part of Battersea Power Station’s ongoing £9 billion regeneration project, Ocean Outdoor has won the right to develop and market 43 digital advertising screens, murals and experiential spaces within the station and its immediate surroundings.

Re-opened to the public on 14 October, the decommissioned power station has been transformed into a premium commercial space; containing 250 new stores, offices and luxury flats, with a cinema and ice skating rink planned for the months ahead.

“Battersea Power Station is a world class development, leading the way in retail, leisure, residential and office space,” Battersea Power Station Development Company senior commercialisation manager, Natalie Caley said.

“We have already welcomed some of the best retail and leisure offerings so it stands to reason that we work with the best digital out of home partner, Ocean. We look forward to delivering an unrivalled advertising and brand experience for our audience.”

With bespoke OOH assets planned in keeping with the power station’s Grade II listed status, Ocean’s portfolio will be visible across all levels, extending to the new Electric Boulevard and Prospect Park developments.

Ocean Outdoor UK joint managing director, Phil Hall added: “Battersea Power Station will transform SW11 into one of the most desirable neighbourhoods in London.

“For Ocean, Battersea Power Station is a natural fit, creating a seamless sequence of exclusive environments and iconic OOH landmarks right across the capital.

Concluding, he said: “The outlook for DOOH as an advertising, broadcast and entertainment medium could not be stronger. As a No 1 media brand, Battersea Power Station will be at the forefront of its future success.”
