BAFTA wishes to inspire the next generation with its 75th birthday campaign

The British Academy Film Awards (Bafta) has celebrated its 75th birthday by launching an ad campaign that intends to inspire the next generation.

The cinema promotion ‘Behind the Bafta’ highlights the variety of different ways young people can embark on a career in film, games and television.

The ad features behind the scene footage of the various jobs that make up a film set and opens with Big Zuu asking: “If it’s your name in that envelope, who do you thank?”

Produced by DCM Studios, the spot includes clips from films such as 1917, Get Out and Skyfall, and carries the inspiring message:  “There are a lot of people behind every Bafta. You could be one of them.”

The campaign airs five months after the 75th Bafta award ceremony took place.

“Every year Bafta celebrates the extraordinary creativity and skill of all those working in film, games and television, while also providing learning and development opportunities to nurture the next generation of talent,” Bafta executive director of PR and communications, Donna Mathews, said.

“This special collaboration with DCM brings this work together and invites audiences to look behind the famous mask to see a snapshot of the many and varied careers in the screen industries, and the huge wealth of talent and expertise behind every Bafta. We are so grateful to double Bafta winner Big Zuu for his support and hope this celebratory call-to-action will encourage film-goers to explore the learning resources Bafta has to offer and inspire some Bafta winners of the future too.”
