McDonald’s launches loyalty scheme in the UK following successful trial

McDonald’s has launched its MyMcDonald’s Rewards loyalty scheme across the UK this week, following a successful trial period earlier in the year.

Customers will be able to access the programme via the restaurant chain’s app where they will be able to earn points on their orders which can then be exchanged for other items on the menu.

Users will be able to earn 100 points for each pound spent and will be able to unlock a range of prizes according to the points they have accumulated.

McDonald’s added that points will expire after a year if not used, and that points cannot be collected on orders made via a third party, such as Uber Eats or Just Eat.

In a LinkedIn post, the firm’s director of digital, Karl Boyce wrote: “Today, (20 July) we launched MyMcDonald’s Rewards across the UK, after many months of planning, piloting, learning and iterating with some of our most talented people across our UK, global teams and agencies. This couldn’t be better timed with the pressures our customers are under.

“We are encouraged that the insights it will give us on our customers, will allow us to deliver the most personal and relevant content to them across our channels, even beyond Rewards, which will add more value to their experience with us. And for scaling the massive impact on the pilot restaurants, across the UK.”
