‘Tasty and that’s it’: Russia re-brands McDonald’s after chain withdraws

Russia has re-branded its former McDonald’s restaurants under the name ‘Vkusno i Tochka’ which directly translates as ‘Tasty and that’s it’.

The news of the re-brand and reopening comes a month after McDonald’s announced that it was completely removing all brand presence from Russia following the invasion of Ukraine.

The new logo featuring two yellow lines and a red circle is intended to look like a burger and two fries.

The 800 restaurants were sold to Russian entrepreneur Alexander Govor and are now managed by Sistema PBO, which has claimed that McDonald’s equipment will still be used and the restaurants’ burgers will also remain the same.

“Our goal is that our guests do not notice a difference either in quality or ambience,” Vkusno & tochka chief executive Oleg Paroev said.

The first re-branded store in Moscow bossed the slogan “The name changes, the love remains,” while employees uniforms had the text “The same smiles” sewn into them.

According to Reuters, chain owner Govor said up to 7 billion roubles (£98.63m) would be invested this year in the business, employing up to 51,000 people.

However, the BBC claimed that the Sovcombank may have also played a part in the acquisition, reporting that Govor would not have had the funds to but the entire fast-food chain on his own.
