Volkswagen parodies classic movie moments with latest ident series for ITV

As part of its ongoing partnership with ITV movies Volkswagen has released of a new series of humorous idents, created in collaboration with London-based agency Adam&EveDDB.

The new electric-car themed idents follow on from the agency’s previous ‘Movie Star Confidence’ series, which have accompanied films across the ITV network for the past few years.

Four new idents have been released as part of this latest series, titled ‘Monster Escape’, ‘Stakeout’, ‘Mad Doctor’ and ‘Captured’ respectively. All four four revolve around humorous situations caused by a character attempting to charge their VW hybrid electric car at very inopportune moments, whilst parodying classic moments in film history.

The idents feature four of the German car maker’s electric and hybrid models, the ID.4 GTX, ID.5 GTX, Golf eHybrid and Arteon Shooting Brake eHybrid.

“Volkswagen has a long-standing relationship with film so it’s been great to extend that further with our latest work as part of our partnership with ITV,” Volkswagen UK head of marketing, Sarah Cox said.

“‘Electrifying Movies’ showcases a selection of our fantastic electrified vehicles, showing how Volkswagen has electrified options to suit everybody.

She continued: “In partnership with Adam&EveDDB, we’ve created an entertaining and humorous campaign that puts a twist on famous epic movie moments; pushing them in a new direction centred around electrification.”

Adam&Eve executive creative director, Ant Nelson added: “This campaign follows in the footsteps of many other Volkswagen movie sponsorship campaigns.

“However, unlike its predecessors this is for its electric and eHybrid range of vehicles. Each execution depicts a movie moment which is interrupted with some classic Volkswagen humour.”
