BT’s latest ‘broadband nightmares’ campaign showcases its Halo 3+ Hybrid Broadband

BT’s most recent campaign, “Broadband Nightmares”, features a short horror film that showcases “the power” of the company’s Halo 3+ Hybrid Broadband in resisting slow WiFi connection.

The TV advertisement spot dramatises internet outages in a family household, specifically the family dad’s nightmares about lagging internet connection.

The Saatchi & Saatchi created campaign follows the success of the creative agency’s “Broadband Rage” campaign last year, which highlighted the “unbreakable” connection of BT’s hybrid broadband.

This year, the telecommunication company’s campaign falls into the genre of horror, with imagery depicting the family’s nightmare-like version of reality when the WiFi goes down. The son struggles to download a film, the daughter cannot use her iPad and the mum despairs as her zoom call freezes.

All is saved however, when a BT and EE  router appear next to each other; “Together BT and EE bring you Unbreakable WiFi. Only BT’s hybrid broadband is backed up by EE the UK’s best mobile network”.

The 30 second video launched on 6 May and will also run across out of home (OOH) and video on demand (VOD), with edits and content developed specifically for a range of digital and social channels.

“We are spending more time at home, especially due to the increase in hybrid working. That’s why it is so important to have a network you can rely on,” BT and EE marketing communications director, Pete Jeavons, said.

“Our new and refreshed campaign highlights our unbreakable Halo 3+ hybrid broadband and reminds our customers and viewers that BT and EE provide the enviable connection needed to get on with the day.”
