Meta and NatWest unveil competition to help women in business

Meta and NatWest have collaborated to launch a new competition intended to empower female entrepreneurs with business and digital advertising skills across the UK.

The Facebook parent company and the British bank will create a unique competition space for women to develop their expertise and ambitions, share advice and make valuable connections.

The event will support businesses through digital channels, run ad campaigns to promote women in business and offer training in digital skills and financial literacy.

“Driven by the broad reach of NatWest, and the digital expertise of Meta, our vision is to create a positive economic and social impact for women who have been disproportionately affected by the ongoing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic,” NatWest said.

Open to female business owners across the UK, 50 winners of the competition will receive awards designed to boost business growth and industry knowledge.

These include an ad campaign from Meta’s Mobile Works, Meta ad credits, mentorship from a Meta platform expert, NatWest business support, digital and financial training, access to exclusive networking events and campaign press opportunities.

“More women than ever are starting up businesses and we must harness this potential,” NatWest head of enterprise Julie Baker said.

“The latest Rose Review Progress Report showed that last year 140,000 new businesses were founded by women, compared to 56,000 in 2019.”

The news follows NatWest’s previous projects this month surrounding International Women’s Day.

Six years ago Meta also launched its #SheMeansBusiness campaign with aims to support women’s economic presence.

Meta director of global business marketing for EMEA, Carrie Timms added: “We are excited to partner with NatWest to expand Meta’s long-standing investment in the health of female entrepreneurship.”

This  collaboration between Meta and NatWest will also involve a joint campaign of ‘thought leadership initiatives’ and exclusive events.
