BBC Creative’s new Euros trailer features iconic German landmarks and unexpected imagery like footballing Easter eggs, all mimicking the unpredictability of the beautiful game.

Created with Blink Inc, directed by Balázs Simon and Ramon Djafari, the 3D world features bespoke 2D illustrations from Spanish illustrator Doraura.

The ad and wider campaign will play across BBC channels and socials, with the hero 40-second spot having premiered during the FA Cup final on Saturday 25 May.

Featuring big names including Kane, Bellingham, Robertson and McTominay as well as Musiala, Ronaldo and De Bruyne, the twists and turns will act as a promo for the tournament but also its opening titles across all of BBC television’s coverage.

Soundtracked by an instrumental version of Nothing But Thieves track ‘Welcome to the DCC’  and sound design by Gas, the film shows the pinball pinging, clattering and clanking.

It is topped off with archival and bespoke commentary from BBC commentators Guy Mowbray, Vicki Sparks, Liam McLeod, James McFadden and Robyn Cowen.

“With all its action, emotion and unexpected previous winners, The Euros is more unpredictable than most international tournaments. A giant, mad Euros pinball machine felt like the appropriate canvas to bring that beautiful excitement to life,” said BBC creative executive creative director Rasmus Smith Bech.
