Fintech firm Paypal has unveiled a $15 million (£12.8 million) integrated marketing campaign starring Elf actor Will Ferrell.

The marketing drive, titled ‘Check out Paypal’, highlights the company’s new 3% cashback promotion on customers’ chosen category of either fashion, dining, home and transport when using the platform to check out online.

Devised by Leo UK, the work empathises its flexible payment options- customers can choose to pay now, pay later or pay over time.

“This campaign marks a transformative moment for PayPal in the UK,” said Deborah Hayes, senior director of UK marketing for PayPal.

“By pairing humour with real consumer benefits, we’re showing that PayPal is no longer just the checkout button – it’s the smart, rewarding way to pay. We’re thrilled to be continuing our partnership with Will Ferrell to bring this to life, demonstrating that there’s flexibility – and personality – when you choose to checkout with PayPal.”

The campaign will premiere teaser content across social media channels before launching fully. Its full launch will include a live PR stunt, TV placements, digital video, out-of-home placements, targeted CRM and homepage features running across its UK website.

It comes after the company began rolling out adverts fronted by the actor in the United States last year.

The work also highlights the firm’s refreshed app experience.
