Sophie Ellis-Bextor stars as a glamorously dressed Santa in Freemans’ glitzy new Christmas advert set to the tune of Ellis-Bextor’s song “Freedom of the Night”.
Created by MullenLowe and Freemans’ in-house team, the 30-second advert shows Ellis-Bextor deliver gifts on a snow dusted “Sleigh Street” flanked by four fellow members of her style squad while sporting a stylish red coat.
The advert shows the five-strong team delivering gifts including an LED facemark, a leopard handbag and child’s Adidas to households on the street.
Created to attract style-conscious women over 40 and households who prefer buying online the advert is centred around the tagline “exclusively online”.
It went live across digital channels on 24 October and will air on TV slots from 26 October.
MullenLowe creative director Loren Cook said: “Our aim was to deliver a campaign that showcases Freemans as the destination for stylish, curated, and thoughtful gifts this festive season. This is our second campaign with the formidable Sophie Ellis-Bextor and I think anyone would be incredibly thrilled if she turned up on the doorstep with your perfect gift.”

The above-the-line campaign will be supported across Freemans-owned social media channels, subscription video-on-demand and amplified further with YouTube, social and other channels.
The idea to launch the campaign in October came after Freemans research showed that 36% of consumers have already begun their Christmas shopping by October with a further 23% beginning in early November.
The media agency was the7stars.
Freemans chief customer officer Richard Cristofoli added: “Tis the season to start Christmas shopping. The two-month Christmas countdown is on and most consumers are starting early to spread the cost of the festive season.”
“By launching now, we have two pay days to go until the big day and we’re offering more help and advice than ever before via our Style Squad, making it easier for customers to nail the perfect gift and manage their festive finances.”
