Trainline is showing the lengths travellers will go to in their hunt for cheaper train tickets – with some exploring Mars and others digging around distant caves – in its latest price-focused campaign.
Created by Mother London, the campaign comprises of two 20-second hero films.
The first shows a team of scientists unsuccessfully hunting for cheaper train tickets on the surface of Mars before their robot explorer turns round and tells them about the Trainline app.
The second film shows a group of explorers coming across an otherworldly priestess in a set of underground caves – she breaks out of a trance to tell them they can find tickets much easier by simply using the app.

“Thanks to the Trainline ‘Best Price Guarantee’ we’re pretty sure that customers won’t be able to find cheaper same-day train tickets than they would in the Trainline app,” Trainline brand director Elly Collingwood said.
“In the two films, we see the efforts of interplanetary space exploration in ‘Mars’ and hunting through an underground cave system in ‘Oracle’, both unable to find a cheaper same-day train ticket.”
A further radio ad tells the story of an unsuccessful bid to find cheaper train tickets as part of an archaeological survey.
