Duolingo’s mascot – and accountability expert – Duo has officially taken up residence in the UK, as Mother has been awarded the social account for the language learning app.
Charged with developing Duolingo’s content in the UK, Mother will join the app’s global collection of specialists, winning the account following a competitive pitch process.
One of the agency’s duties will be to manage Duolingo UK’s TikTok account.

“Of the brands playing strong game in content around the world, Duolingo is one we’ve long admired. Its place in the hearts of millions is assured, the great job we have now is to grow engagement across the UK and beyond,” said Mother head of content Vairi MacLennan.
Duolingo regional marketing director Rebeca Ricoy added that with Mother, Duolingo has its first “social and content partner in Europe”.
“They impressed us in the pitch with their smart thinking and have continued that since with the creative ways they approach our challenges. Duo is very much looking forward to finding out what we’ve got planned for him in the UK.”
With the UK known for its language learning deficit, we’ll take Mother’s win as the nation’s win.
