The RSPB has created a set of short comedy animations to help tap into young audiences and drive awareness of the charity’s campaigning mission.
Entitled ‘We Campaign Because They Can’t’ the campaign – created by Good agency and Emmy-nominated studio Blue Zoo – features a series of 15-second comedy short animations.
Highlighting the RSPB’s long-standing aim of being a leading voice that advocates on behalf of nature, each film features an animal attempting to engage in human-like campaigning against the destruction of their natural habitat. Combining humour with purpose, it taps into insights from the IPA about the role of humour in advertising.
Launching across the RSPB website from today (11 July), ‘We Campaign Because They Can’t’ urges the viewer to take a stand against the crisis facing the UK’s wildlife and join the RSPB on its mission to save it.
The film’s director Dane Winn said “Our goal was to create an emotional connection with our audience, making them laugh reflect and act.”

With one in six species at risk of extinction from Great Britain, and countries across the UK being among the most nature depleted in the world, this campaign aims to raise awareness of the need for nature to be protected and restored in line with the global target to protect 30% of terrestrial and marine habitat by 2030.
“Our native wildlife and their habitats are under threat like never before, so it’s never been more important to campaign on their behalf,” said GOOD Agency executive creative director Bryn Attewell.
“With this in mind, we took a light-hearted approach to make a very serious point – that without organisations like the RSPB, wildlife would have no way of defending itself.
“We also wanted to ensure that the vital mission of the RSPB reaches new audiences, so working with the wonderfully talented folk at Blue Zoo we kept the films short, sharp and full of humour and charm.”” he continued.
