Carling owner Molson Coors appoints new lead strategic and creative agency

Ogilvy UK has been named as the new lead strategic and creative agency for Molson Coors, following a competitive pitch process which will see the WPP-owned agency taking over from Havas London.

The deal will see Ogilvy looking after Molson Coors’ portfolio of brands across the UK and Western Europe, which includes Carling, Coors, Rekorderlig and Aspall.

Molson Coors began the competitive pitch process for its creative and strategy business – which was managed by new business agency Ingenuity – in November 2023. The final pitch included Havas (incumbent), BBH, Mother and Ogilvy UK.

Molson Coors marketing director of western Europe Hannah Norbury said: “Ogilvy has the strategic and creative firepower we need to drive connection and relevance with our consumers and ultimately help us in unlocking that growth”.

“We felt throughout the process that Ogilvy was the right agency that could help us in achieving this and are delighted to be appointing them as our new partner. Welcome to Molson Coors Ogilvy UK.”

Ogilvy UK’s winning approach drew on its breadth of capabilities, including 360 creativity and portfolio management consultancy, which would enable it to oversee Molson Coors’ complex family of brands today and in the future.

Ogilvy UK chief executive creative director Jules Chalkley added: “Molson Coors is not only home to incredible brands but an amazing and talented team of marketeers”.

“They were a joy to work with from start to finish and we can’t wait to start working on such iconic brands with big ambitions.”

“Magic happens when our specialisms combine, proof that bringing creative excellence and earned-first thinking to bear can really impact client business at scale.”
