Poundland targets new markets with national TV campaign

Discount retailer Poundland will be advertising its all-new clothing, homewares and grocery ranges on UK and Ireland TV for the first time, from tomorrow.

The ads will highlight the significant value Poundland is now able to bring shoppers, having completely revamped and extended into a number of new categories.

Over the past few years the high street retailer has introduced chilled and frozen food to many of its stores, and has completely revamped its clothing and homewares ranges with thousands of new items. The upcoming campaign will be the first time these new ranges have been promoted on television.

Fronted by Irish comedian Alan Devally, the TV adverts will be shown from tomorrow (15 March) and will run until mid-April.

Devally – who has been the face of Poundland’s TV adverts since 2012 – will also be making in-person visits to Poundland stores over the coming weeks to meet shoppers.

Commercial director Tim Bettley said: “There’s been a transformation underway at Poundland for quite some time – in fact a Poundland or Dealz in 2024 is simply light years away from the kind of store customers would have experienced a decade ago.

“With our significant investment in ranges, stores and service, it’s now the right time to invite customers who haven’t seen what we now offer, to come and take a look for themselves at the changes we’ve made.”

Earlier this year the retailer confirmed that it had begun a complete overhaul of its general merchandise ranges, while also growing its baby and kids’ clothing ranges in a bid to be Britain’s best value clothing retailer.

Poundland has also completed makeovers in 11 former Wilko stores in England and Wales.
