Behind-the-scenes film reveals sweet moments of McVities True Originals ad  


McVities has given viewers a look behind the curtain of its popular advert featuring Sir Trevor McDonald, which launched last year as part of its True Originals brand platform.

Making its debut in October, the McVities TV advert saw McDonald return to the news desk for the first time since he retired 15 years ago.

Ad agency TBWA\London created the campaign and brand platform in a bid to bring Britain’s biggest biscuit brand back into the hearts and minds of the nation.

To coincide with the McVities ad airing again this year, TBWA\London has revealed a behind-the-scenes film giving viewers an intimate look at some of the heart-warming moments that brought the ad to life.

The 40-second film showcases “some expensive camera gear”, the great British countryside, a cheeky farm animal in a football shirt and “a bona fide legend” in McDonald.

TBWA\London creative directors Ben Brazier and Johnny Ruthven said: “Crafting the perfect biscuit shoot isn’t just about capturing images of tasty biscuits, it’s about immortalising a British icon”.

“Last year we brought McVities, Britain’s biggest biscuit brand, back into the limelight with True Originals. In the behind-the-scenes film viewers can see the magic behind the ad.”
