Cesc Fàbregas fronts new UEFA Champions League and Expedia campaign

Chelsea, Barcelona and Arsenal legend Cesc Fàbregas is fronting a new campaign to mark the partnership between the UEFA Champions League and travel firm Expedia.

Promoting both UEFA’s flagship pan-Euopean competition and how Expedia can help facilitate fan travel and experiences of the tournament, the film will form part of an upcoming digital series.

Developed in partnership with creative agency Anomaly, ‘Nothing Beats Being There’ sees Fàbregas discuss his personal experiences of the tournament, as he jokingly claims to have ‘missed out’ on having never experienced it as a fan.

“We’re proud Expedia Live is an Official Supplier of the UEFA Champions League and can enable fans from around the world to travel and discover new cities, as nothing beats being there. Travelling to watch a game allows fans to experience new cultures and create special memories with friends and family that will last a lifetime,” Expedia Group senior vice-president Michele Rousseau said.

Social media activations alongside ticket competitions and live events will support the campaign, with a second part of the film set to be released in March 2024.

Anomaly London executive creative director, Joe Corcoran added: “The best partnerships bring out more in each other. The UEFA Champions League allows travelling teams to compete in the best cities around Europe and Expedia makes travel easier for fans, to experience games in the best way possible.

“Over the last few seasons, we’ve been fortunate enough to work with players and managers who take part in the competition and were struck by an insight our work unearthed which was that despite travelling to all these cities for games, very few of them have truly experienced the places as cultural destinations. It’s this insight that inspired this work with Cesc Fàbregas and Expedia.”
